Trailer Thursdays – September 7

It’s once again time to take a look at some of the trailers that catch my as we look to the future to see what will entertain us in the coming months.

Let’s kick things off with the latest trailer for PROFESSOR MARSTON AND THE WONDER WOMEN, the biopic about William Moulton Marston, the creator of WONDER WOMAN, and the women who inspired him. The movie stars Luke Evans and Rebecca Hall and is set for an October 13 release.

Coming to Netflix on November 17 is MUDBOUND, starring Garrett Hedlund and Carey Mulligan. The movie tells the story of two men dealing with racism and adjusting to life after World War II in rural Mississippi.

Sticking with Netflix exclusives, we have GAGA: FIVE FOOT TWO, a documentary that chronicles the life of Lady Gaga. Look for it on September 22.

In THE SNOWMAN, Michael Fassbender plays a detective investigating a disappearance during the first snow of winter, which could signal the return of a serial killer. The film debuts on October 20.

Finally, Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike star in HOSTILES, about an Army captain who reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory in 1892. The movie recently debuted at the Telluride Film Festival and will be featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, but no wide release date has been announced.

That’s all for this week. What are you looking forward to? Talk about it here!

  • ProjectBlue

The Snowman: could be the greatest murder mystery ever. Should be a Christmas movie

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

“This holiday season, the halls will be decked with murder!”

      • ProjectBlue

      • Devin Harris

        This is so awesome!

  • Devin Harris

I thought the Wonder Woman trailer was going to suck but after one minute it took an interesting turn. I’m intrigued.

    • ProjectBlue

Didn’t watch but have read stuff on him. Kink type stuff?

      • Devin Harris

        bondage and the like.

  • It’s Thursday.

    • It is!

    • RudoWakening

      This is correct.

    • Matt_InGeeked

      #FAKENEWS

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

One more day to fall in love

  • Matt_InGeeked

Looking like we’ll be driving away from the coast on Saturday.

    • ProjectBlue

That sucks. At least there’s enough heads up for a plan of action. Would never want to live in tornado alley for that reason

      • Matt_InGeeked

Yeah, it’s been alright, even though a lot of folks are running around in a panic making it more difficult than it needs to be.

        • ProjectBlue

I like planning and have a dead-inside bit of “whatever will be will be”, more people could benefit from that.

They doing an official evac for your area?

          • Matt_InGeeked

Not yet. We’re in a state of emergency, and my house is in Level 2 territory. Level 1 obviously will be the first evac section.

    • RudoWakening

That’s no good but I’m glad you’re getting away from the storm

      • Matt_InGeeked

Well, we should at least be far enough away that all we see are storms.

  • Matt_InGeeked
  • Miko363

My wife is going to Austin for work, leaving me home alone with a 2 and 4 year old from Sunday to Friday.

If you don’t see me on here next week it’s because I died.

    • Diddly

Do… do I ask if your wife wants to meet for beers?

      • Miko363

What if my wife was Friendship all along?

  • RudoWakening

Today is my parents’ 38th anniversary

    • Happy anniversary!

    • Mikey

      Happy Anniversary to your parents!!!

    • Matt_InGeeked

It’s crazy how similar most of us are in age.

My parents’ 38th anniversary was 2 weeks ago.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

      No Way, Jose!

    • It would have been my parent’s 39th this year.

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Would’ve been 37th for my parentals

    • Devin Harris

Would have been 39 for mine back in June.

      • DAJackson7

It was 39 for mine in June

      • The Professor

If father was still alive, 43 last month

  • Reasonable Opinion Guy

The number of interviewees applying for programming jobs who can’t answer the most basic questions on the subject is too damn high.

    • Matt_InGeeked

Well, luckily you’re there to straighten them out.

    • ProjectBlue

Everyone can do it! Coding boot camp type places are the scammiest of things.

  • Matt_InGeeked

Gaga’s rear looks nice in that screenshot.

I’ll just concentrate on that today.

  • Facts

Doctor Who is on one of the campus tvs. I have never watched the program.

    • ProjectBlue

Nor I. IT seems something you could easily jump into at any new doctor but eh, too much lore behind it I think for me.

      • DAJackson7

If you just start with the new series you won’t be lost. Eccelson’s first episodes are hard to get into but after episode four or so it’s all good

  • Mikey

Let’s hope that today is a great day for everyone!

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

As long as the Goodyear blimp says “No Way Jose’s a pimp” on the side

      • Mikey

        They might!

    • The Professor

Today is one of my 2 longest days of the year (back to school night). Didn’t get much sleep and couldn’t work out this morning because I overslept.

  • I wish it were Friday, or at least that we were still on summer hours at work.

    • ProjectBlue

Thursdays aren’t bad. One room, air conditioner works, 2 preps. Rest of my week can rot off

  • That hurricane seems like bad news.

  • Facts

Alien and Aliens are great scifi movies. Still haven’t seen Covenant.

  • WorldWide Duck

    What’s the best JCVD movie?

    Bloodsport or Time Cop right?

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

      Bloodsport

    • It’s all a bunch of punching and kicking!

      • Facts

        Just like boxing.

      • Devin Harris

Someone needs to teach him how to work!

    • DAJackson7

      Bloodsport

  • Facts

Steven Seagal being portrayed as a badass in his recent movies in 2017 is extremely hilarious.

    • Matt_InGeeked

Maybe he doesn’t take his heart medication at its regularly scheduled time. That’s bad ass.

    • The Professor

loved the south park episode on him and his safe space

  • Devin Harris

I ended up watching some of that Dice Clay show. He’s just too unlikable as a main character. Maybe it appeals to New Yorkers?

    • Not really.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I hate that guy. He was never funny to me.

      • Matt_InGeeked

Hate is a strong word. I don’t know him.

I dislike his material and his personality on stage. There.

  • The Professor

It’s always weird to me which comedians make it huge when no one ever really goes “I really like that guy.”
Examples: dane cook, andrew dice clay

    • Matt_InGeeked

Lots of college kids in 2004 loved Dane Cook.

      • The Professor

        Ah. I graduated in 2001

  • Matt_InGeeked

Does Dane Cook still sell out concerts and stuff? I haven’t heard about him in years.

  • The Professor

One thing that bugs me is the time that these parent nights start. I get out at 3 and parent night starts at 5:30 (thus I have to be back about 5). There’s barely enough time to go out and get a quick meal. I also live too far away (about 20-25 min) to go home during that time.

  • Matt_InGeeked

The best thing about staying with my in-laws for a couple days is that they have a nice array of booze in the cabinet.

So there’s something for which to look forward.

    • Mikey

Did you end up leaving, I’m guessing?

      • Matt_InGeeked

No, not yet. We’re probably leaving Saturday.

        • Mikey

          Safe travels.

          • Matt_InGeeked

            Thanks man

  • Facts

    I miss Rodney Dangerfield.

    • The Professor

      he still gets no respect

    • Matt_InGeeked

“I come from a stupid family. During the Civil
War my great uncle fought for the west!”

  • Matt_InGeeked

    More Dangerfield:

My father carries around the picture of the kid
    who came with his wallet.

When I played in the sandbox the cat kept
    covering me up.

I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath
toys were a toaster and a radio.

One year they wanted to make me poster boy…
    for birth control.

I remember the time I was kidnapped and they
sent back a piece of my finger to my father. He
    said he wanted more proof.

My uncle’s dying wish was to have me sitting on
his lap. He was in the electric chair.

  • Diddly

I feel as if Rodney Dangerfield never got the proper amount of respect that he deserved

    • Matt_InGeeked

He was great. But I love corny dad jokes.

  • Matt_InGeeked

    The Waffle House Index:
    http://cnn.it/2wKjNLF

    • Marv

I must have driven past 100 of those and the idea to stop never occurred. Even their signs looked unappetizing.

      • When I went to Atlanta a few years ago, my friends were all about going to a Waffle House. It’s like a compulsion.

      • Matt_InGeeked

Waffle Houses are mostly shitholes, but my god, the food is great.

  • Marv

I can’t wait for this turd to go back to his home, he says he’s leaving at ten the morning.

    Shooooooo

    • Comdukakis

This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode

    • You got him to leave a day early?

      • Marv

Yeah I bored him to death last night. We sat in the living room and watching Mad Max, Skull Island and Wonder Woman. He wanted to kill himself lol

    • Miko363

So someone showed up and basically decided you should entertain him?

      • Marv

Yep! After two years I still have friends that think I’m still the party guy seven days a week.

        • Miko363

Who…who over the age of 30 just shows up at someone’s house??

*spoken in an old curmudgeon voice*

          • I hate the pop in

          • Marv

I mostly keep really dumb friends so I can feel like a genius. It does not come without penalty.

        • Mikey

          Seems a bit rude.

    • Matt_InGeeked

Why don’t you just tell him to go away?

      • Marv

That’s good in theory but never actually works in real life. I can’t be that big a dick, so I’m a very passive aggressive dick instead lol

        • Miko363

That’s the best, just purposely make it as uninteresting a time for him as possible so it looks like it’s his choice to leave.

          • Marv

We watched movies for six straight hours yesterday lol

        • Matt_InGeeked

Yeah, you could just stop talking to him or go somewhere without him. That should be passive aggressive enough.

  • Matt_InGeeked

I’m so tired, I have so much to do at home, and I don’t want to be here.

  • More construction on the water line in my neighborhood means my water is shut off again for the day. This is very annoying

    • Marv

      They’re never finishing.

  • Mikey

If someone came to my house and just decided to stay there for a few days, I’d be pretty furious.

    • Marv

It happens to us at least once or twice a year. The thing is I used to be really into it and even encouraged it. Things are a bit different now.

    • DAJackson7

I think i would be furious is someone just came to my house at all

    • The Professor

Dang it. I was going to stay at your place this weekend

    • I’m not a huge fan of having people over for multiple days at all and if we do then I like it to be structured. You’re coming at this time and leaving at this time. Plenty of advanced notice too.

Perhaps OSU will lose to Oklahoma this weekend 52-0.

        …..

      • RudoWakening

        Boooooo

    • WorldWide Duck

Alabama is the best. USC is the 2nd best.

      • Matt_InGeeked

I believe USC is overrated and will lose to Stanford this week.

    • DAJackson7

I don’t think College Football should be ranked till after week 3

      • Matt_InGeeked

I’m basing it off what I saw last week + how last season ended + what teams lost/gained.

But you’re right. They probably shouldn’t be ranked until week 3 or 4.

  • Marv

Alright, going to take this turd to breakfast then hopefully push him out the door then come back here and watch something. I miss this place lol

  • Well today sucks.. as you can probably guess since I’ve been at work since 7:45 and am not getting on here till after 10.

Also I must admit Ferrari didn’t do half bad with the trailers today…..HE DID ALL BAD :statler and waldorf laugh::

      raiders?

      • Matt_InGeeked

Fuck. I meant to put them on there. Oh well. You can see how scientific this is.

    • DAJackson7

I think the Ravens are a sub .500 team this year. And like the Professor said, you have to have the Raiders

      • Matt_InGeeked

Yeah, I should have traded them.

  • The only extra sleeping arrangements in my house now are an uncomfortable futon in the spare room, or the couch. I discourage couch sleeping, and early rising children discourage it further. So people tend not to want to stay long.

    • Grampa Millionaire Bruce Wayne

How do you discourage it? Do you spray them with a hose?

      • *takes notes*

        Interesting, tell me more

      • I just don’t really allow it as an option. There’s a private spare room with a bed, why would you want to sleep on a couch in the living room?

        • Grampa Millionaire Bruce Wayne

You underestimate the power of the deadbeat mooch, good sir.

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

A friend of mine just equated Michael Jackson going on trial for molesting children with the guys in Guns N Roses probably having sex with an underage girl at some point. I’m letting it go, but that seems insane to me.

    • …..today does not feel like a whose sexual assault is worse kind of day

      • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

I just don’t consider those things to be in the same ballpark. Plus one involves an actual legal proceeding and the other assumptions on someone’s appearance and reputation.

    • I would be beyond shocked to learn that any famous musician, especially hard drinking ones, hadn’t done that at some point, and probably many times over.

Those guys literally have teenage girls lining up to sleep with them, and they aren’t checking ID’s. Even if they do, girls have been known to lie once or twice about that sort of thing.

  • Facts

    I want to see Hostiles.

  • Mikey

Friends coming over for one night is good enough. Then, maybe you get breakfast, watch TV for a bit, and they are on their way before noon. My friends do that when they visit me and I do the same when I visit.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I watched an episode of Friends yesterday.

  • DAJackson7

I played hours of Madden last night just so i could move the Rams back to St. Louis.,…..the game only gives you a certain few cities to choose from and the cities have specific names you can pick for the moved team….except St. Louis which just gets to keep whatever team name and uniforms the team had…..that’s fine but the audio still calls them the Los Angeles…fuck the NFL hates us

    • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Two teams have left your town. Two.

      • DAJackson7

Yes Yes i know….greedy bastards. But i built a new stadium! With my own money! Hahahahaha

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

That all stemmed from claim that Appetite for Destruction is the #1 album of the 80s. Notice I didn’t say ‘best’ which is pure opinion, or ‘biggest’ which is pure sales.

  • Matt_InGeeked

Just saw the Supernatural season 3 Christmas episode, and it was great! I can’t say enough good things about it. Just great TV.

I gotta be honest, I just love this show. Sometimes it misses, but it’s been able to recover when it does consistently. Definitely worth watching.

    • I guess I’ll have to give that show a try some day

      • Matt_InGeeked

If you like shows like Buffy and Angel that throw a little humor in their episodes, but also follow a continuity, and are easy to watch, you’ll dig it.

    • Facts

      Its a good one.

    • It remains one of my faves. I’m irritated that CW blew off Hulu in favor of…well, whatever…but I really enjoyed watching the last season of Supernatural on Netflix. It was kind of like running into an old friend and rediscovering why you enjoy his company so much.

      • Matt_InGeeked

I’m just happy I dsicovered it 13 years into its run, so now I can binge it (which for us is 2 episodes a night)….so it’ll take months and months before we finish it.

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Rick Springfield did a great job, I thought

  • Marv

Yes yes yes yes yes he’s goooooooone we didn’t even have to go to breakfast

    • Matt_InGeeked

      Congratulations!

      • Marv

I should probably go back to daycare and pick the boy up but I won’t lol

        • I need to find a day care. Getting some extra sleep would be so nice

          • Marv

You do. That whole idea of the kid only being watched in your house just means you never have an empty house!

          • And an empty house means more opportunities for hookers and blow!

  • Matt_InGeeked

Purple Rain is probably the best album of the 80’s.

    • Marv

I seem to remember a thing called Thriller. I mean it only had nine hit singles on it.

      • The Silver Fox

        Off the Wall>Thriller

        • Marv

Personally, I agree. Commercially though does anything beat Thriller? It was a fucking hit factory.

        • “No Way Jose” Gomez

          Bad>Thriller

      • Matt_InGeeked

        That’s a good one.

        • The Silver Fox

If you’re going by number of hit singles than Born in the U.S.A. has to up there as well.

      • The darn gone girl is mine subtracks 4 of those hits

    • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

That has 4 great tracks on it, but the rest of the album never did much for me. Somebody also suggested The Joshua Tree which gives me the same feelings.

    • hmmmm It’s up there… Joshua tree… Appetite for destruction
Def Leppard Hysteria and Pyromania (for me anyway)
      London Calling
      Talking Heads Remain in light
off the top of my head are other contenders

      • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Hysteria is also way up there.

  • If you’re a business of any size at all and you don’t have a proper web page then I’m probably not going to patronize you. A Facebook page is very annoying, and instagram is ok as a supplement, but doesn’t replace a website.

    • DAJackson7

I was getting pissy about that same thing last night

    • It makes you look like you don’t really care about succeeding. Shit, even I have a website

  • Matt_InGeeked

Off the top of my head, I would probably have it:

    1. Purple Rain
    2. Remain in Light
    3. London Calling
    4. Thriller
    5. Disintegration

    • 1. Appetite.
      2. ..nothing else.

I don’t even know who the artist is on numbers 2 and 5 and I only just learned of Purple Rain.

      • Marv

        Lol ok

      • Matt_InGeeked

        Sounds like eclectic taste.

    • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

London Calling is the very definition of a crossover album. It was actually released in the 70s and the 80s!

    • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Somebody brought up Disintegration which to me also had some nothing tracks on it. And too much padding in the intros and outros.

    • The Silver Fox

      Nebraska
      The Joshua Tree
      Remain in Light
      Synchronicity
      Off the Wall

      • Matt_InGeeked

I hate The Police, but the rest of those are good.

        • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

So you say Fuck Tha Police?

          • Matt_InGeeked

Yes. They are post-punk new wave in the same way that Miramax is an independent movie studio.

    • I owned none of these. Had to look up what 3 of them were.

  • #HOTTAKE this is not even a discussion if Say Say Say was the Paul/Micheal track on Thriller instead of the dog gone girl is mine

  • Marv

I don’t really care for most music in the 80s anyway. Like I recognize that Appetite was a great album but I don’t think ever in my life I’ve listened to the whole thing, Guns & Roses just aren’t that great to me

    • Matt_InGeeked

It’s rock in all of it’s tawdry excess.

      • Marv

They’re like AC/DC to me, I can’t tell any of the songs apart

        • Matt_InGeeked

          That’s a good comparison.

          • Marv

Except of course that terrible rock ballad, and the brutal rape they committed on that Beatles song. Those stand out lol

        • sure you can Celine Dion only covered one ACDC song it’s easy to keep track of

          • Marv

…I can’t lie I find this kind of hot lol

          • Marv

I like this dumb broad comes out and has to autotune while Celine is just belting this out

          • DAJackson7

Yeah i stopped when the other chick came out but Celine was killing it

          • it’s the air guitar that makes me feel i’m watching a mom though

          • Marv

Yeah its really hot, Celine looks goooooood

    • I’ve kind of outgrown all of that stuff, but that album was absolute perfection to me for a really long time and I’ve listened to it literally hundreds of times at least.. Just the perfect combination of young, hungry, angry, and horny to speak to me.

Obviously different strokes for different folks.

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

My top 4 were Appetite, Kick, Thriller and 1984.

  • Mikey

@mattindeed:disqus Did Katie Cassidy show up yet on Supernatural?

    • Matt_InGeeked

Yes. She’s kind of the only thing that’s annoying so far.

I don’t know what it is about her, but she makes every line make me want to toss her down stairs.

      • Mikey

She’s been on like 8 different CW shows. She isn’t the greatest actress but is skinny with long legs so she’ll keep getting jobs.

        • Diddly

It’s kind of funny that the girls of the CW shows can’t get work anywhere outside of CW

  • Matt_InGeeked

I may add Graceland to the top 10. That was a great album.

  • Marv

I’m catching up on Stephen Colbert clips so I know how I feel about the news

  • I think you are all forgetting a little album called knee deep in the hoopla

  • The Silver Fox

    Underrated 80’s album: David Bowie’s Let’s Dance.

    • It is pretty great start to finish. I flip between it and Scary Monsters of what was his best of the decade..though really those two are the only ones in the running

      • The Silver Fox

Modern Love, Ashes to Ashes and Fashion are right up there among my favorite Bowie songs.

    • Matt_InGeeked

      Amazing and underrated.

      • I don’t know if one of the biggest albums of the decade is underrated

        • Matt_InGeeked

          Underrated critically, I mean.

  • Diddly

Mmmm these hashbrowns are good, as are the scrambled eggs and toast!

  • Marv

Now I’m watching Celine do Rolling in the Deep haha, somehow this became Celine Day for me that’s suitably odd I suppose

  • Matt_InGeeked

I wore out the Pixies’ Surfer Rosa when I was in High school, so maybe that one too.

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

I keep looking at Hall and Oates and Huey Lewis albums to make a case but their success was much more based on singles than albums. Also discovered that Everytime You Go Away was a Hall and Oates song originally.

    • Sport is a pretty great album

      • Matt_InGeeked

        Absolutely.

  • 80s albums?

    Moving Pictures.

I actually love all their 80s albums, but I’m a bit overdosed on Rush right now.

Oh, and I had Appetite at one point. I always thought they were just a younger, harder version of Aerosmith. Didn’t take long for me to lose interest in them.

    • Oh, Live After Death. Loved that album. Still do.

    • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

      Rush is borderline unlistenable.

      • Matt_InGeeked

        lol

        • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Legit the worst voice in the history of rock music.

          • Matt_InGeeked

            ok.

      • They tend to be polarizing.

      • I can give their greatest hits a whirl every 5 years or so but yeah I don’t get how that’s someone’s favorite band

    • I’ve given Rush the old college try more than once but I find them very hard to listen to.

  • Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio,

    don’t you remember?

  • Diddly

Speaking of 80s music, did Lady Gaga ever admit that her look is ripped off from the chick from Missing Persons?

  • The Silver Fox

Contenders for my favorite 80’s albums:
Bruce Springsteen: The River, Nebraska, Born in the U.S.A.
Michael Jackson: Off the Wall and Thriller
    U2: The Joshua Tree
    Paul Simon: Graceland
    The Police: Synchronicity
    AC/DC: Back in Black
Metallica: Master of Puppets, And Justice for All, Ride the Lightning
    Prince: Purple Rain
    David Bowie: Scary Monsters
    Def Leppard: Pyromania, Hysteria
Bruce Hornsby and the Range: Scenes from the Southside
    Talking Heads: Remain in Light
    The Clash: London Calling
    Pink Floyd: The Wall
Tears for Fears: Songs from the Big Chair

    • Forgot River and Nebraska were 80’s albums actually. so year they should be up there

I agree with all of these though I guess I need to get graceland a listen

    • The Silver Fox

Also Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits

  • Marv

My favorite 80s album: Licensed to Ill

    • Matt_InGeeked

      A+

It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, also.

      • The Silver Fox

        King of Rock

      • Marv

It was the first thing I found that sounded different from all the butt rock

    • I always disliked Beasties as a kid, but I’m actually coming around now.

  • I feel Sign O the times needs to get brought up in this discussion

  • I do quite like Brothers in Arms as well. So that’s 3.

  • Matt_InGeeked

No one has mentioned Joy Division. Closer is a great album. I feel like killing myself when listening to it, but it’s still great.

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Somebody mentioned Pretty Hate Machine, which I love, but only got into in the 90s. It was released in October of 1989 for christs sake.

  • Someone’s always playing corporation games
Who cares they’re always changing corporation names

  • As a kid I didn’t like Michael Jackson because of the dancing. As an adult I actually do like a lot of his stuff but only as dancefloor stuff. Putting on a Michael Jackson album just while I’m driving or playing a video game or doing dishes isn’t something that I do.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I’ve put on MJ music while cleaning and working out before.

    • DAJackson7

Yeah i never cared for any of his stuff at all

  • The Silver Fox

    Contenders for favorite 70’s albums:
Led Zeppelin: III, IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti
David Bowie: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Hunky Dory
    Miles Davis: Bitches’ Brew
    Fleetwood Mac: Rumours
    Talking Heads ’77
    Steely Dan: Aja
Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here
Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life, Innervisions, Talking Book, Fulfillingness’ First Finale
The Rolling Stones: Exile on Main St., Sticky Fingers, Some Girls
    Marvin Gaye: What’s Going On
    Elvis Costello: This Year’s Model
    Deep Purple: Machine Head

    • Matt_InGeeked

      This is all good.

    • Another list I can’t argue against. I would include more Queen but to each their own

      • The Silver Fox

A Night at the Opera, News of the World, Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town would be some others.

        • Matt_InGeeked

A Night at the Opera and Born to Run would probably both be in my top 10 of the 70’s.

        • ah yes.. silly of me to forget Bruce since he has been my weird obsession all this year

Has it? It’s been a crazy month.

        • Matt_InGeeked

I have no idea what Diddly is talking about. The only recent troll I know of is Friendship, and he definitely didn’t post here the most.

          • Diddly

It was Friendship! He was definitely increasing his productivity before the breakdown

          • Definitely wasn’t me this time around!

          • Marv

Yeah it’s not nearly as enjoyable to poke fun at the guy doing it when he’s the size of a small city and could crush my skull with an unkind thought

          • Marv

Not that you couldn’t crush my skull too I suppose I’m just far more scared of Devin lol

          • I don’t blame you in the slightest. Honestly, I’d probably have Devin or Dwayne do it for me anyway.

          • Marv

I remember last year when I thought Dwayne was big.

He’s adorably petite now that I’ve hung out with Devin.

Another reason I’d never want to go into a regular classroom: They tend to load the same teachers year after year with “the” kids. Can be because they handle them well or an extra sped certificate, sometimes out of habit, sometimes to try to force people out of district; at elementary, the guy teachers get the “tough boys” a lot. It’s got to suck for them. I see them 40 minutes a week and that’s enough, some classes I can’t imagine having every day.

    • Marv

It definitely seems like one of those gigs where there is no benefit to being good at it lol

      • ProjectBlue

I’ve creatively argued for lower evaluation scores in past years. If you score exemplary, the state allegedly starts nosing around hoping to use you as an exemplar. No interest in more people judging me crammed in a room at any given time.

        • Marv

People are real pieces of shit to their animals its rather disturbing.

        • I guess sometimes there’s tough choices to make. But someone here the other day was talking about something they saw where people in Houston left their pets behind chained up and so they drowned. At least leave them free and give them a shot. That’s fucking nuts.

          • Marv

Those people should be fucking shot.

          • At least.

          • I don’t disagree.

          • TatR!

The choice was made when you opted to take care of something in the first place, not when the first bad situation pops up

          • Meh, I don’t judge. It’s a dog. People fleeing certain destruction are making pretty tough choices.

But don’t doom the poor thing. That’s just evil.

    • yea I think that is an easy FUCK THOSE PEOPLE

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Me and my wife will find a way to bring our 7 cats and 1 dog if we have to evacuate

  • Marv

Particularly dogs man. Cats can always go feral and keep going, shit half the time if they disappear for six months they come back fatter. But dogs we broke those things, humankind totally broke any ability for them to survive right out of them. We kind of owe them as a species to make sure we take care of them.

Evacuating Xannie would be pretty easy. We have a ramp so she can get in the car and as soon as her harness comes on she’s perfectly behaved because she LOVES going for walks.

    • Marv

Refugee Xannie would make for amazing Instapics

      • And a Lifetime movie

        • DAJackson7

Hallmark movie…..a lifetime movie has to have an evil man

          • Good point

          • Marv

Charles Grodin plays a man very hungry for bacon.

          • DAJackson7

Booooooooo, but learns to love Xannie

      • RudoWakening

I’d carry her like a baby and wrap her in swaddling clothes

        • Marv

Do you ever put her in a rocker and play This Little Piggy? That must get awkward.

          • RudoWakening

            Not anymore

        • TatR!

          Hi Thad!

          • RudoWakening

            Hello TatR!!

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

        That sounds sad 🙁

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Secret Empire sounds like it was horrible. Glad I punched out of Spencer’s Cap run after three issues.

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

This War of Jokes and Riddles thing is just really terrible at this point.

    • I don’t know why I’m buying it

      • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Me neither. It has to be almost over right? WHY IS BATMAN SIDING WITH A GUY THAT KILLED A LITTLE KID?

        • Why do we care about another year 1-2 story? It’s just a filler story from the regular writer

          • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

Just horrible. I must stop buying it.

          • I really did like Omega Men from King, but his Batman run just crapped out so quick

          • Stretching 8 issues of story into 24 probably didn’t help

  • TatR!
    • this should be coming for me this week http://www.teefury.com/black-lodge-coffee-company
      in grey

      • TatR!

Oh that’s nice. I’ve not seen any TP shirts in the UK that I liked

      • Marv

The models in that picture look more interesting than any character on the show.

      • Matt_InGeeked

I want to punch that guy in the face because of his haircut.

        • yeah they have used the same two people for like a decade now I imagine they got screwed on some royalties

    • Marv

My IheartNY shirt should be arriving today. I didn’t buy one in NY because I’m dumb.

        • Marv

It’s ironic because I don’t really <3 New York all that much

      • TatR!

I like that I Heart NY poster where it’s Jason bursting through it to promote that movie

  • TatR!

I like Rebecca Hall a lot

  • Matt_InGeeked

Annnnd…..Governor orders mandatory evacuation for the all GA coastal towns for Saturday.
And guess what? There’s a state of emergency even in the county we were driving to on Saturday! Yay!

  • Facts

I really have to avoid saying the phrase “let’s go” around my puppy as he will bolt to the front door if we decide to go anywhere and he can’t go.

He was also extremely upset when we were packing/the night before leaving for Maine.

    Dogs know man.

    • Marv

It’s weird how dogs put things together. I can say c’mon or lets go and she doesn’t react at all unless I’m walking toward the door. They pick up so many weird body language cues.

      • DAJackson7

Probably because they don’t understand speech at all

        • you and your crazy theories.. my dog speaks English he is just an asshole

          • DAJackson7

Hahaha, we have one that is fucking awful…..purposely does what you tell him not to

  • anybody a student and not using their sunday ticket U access?

  • sorry for my lack of wittiness in my Headline roundup. I was hungry and sleepy.. now I’m back and ready to pun

  • Matt_InGeeked

My stomach is starting to hurt.

    • I’m sorry man this sucks

    • Marv

I think you’ll be fine. Just remember all the news you’re watching is specifically designed to scare the shit out of you.

      • Yeah Limbaugh said it was a scam by big water to sell Poland Spring

      • Matt_InGeeked

I’m sure the people of Houston agree.

        • Marv

The ones that left before the storm like they should’ve, yeah probably. And you’re leaving before the storm so…

    • Mikey

      🙁

    • TatR!

      Godspeed Matt :/

    • Facts

Remember get your family to safety is what is important. Things can be replaced not people or your pets.

      • Matt_InGeeked

        Yeah, we’ll be doing that.

        • Replacing Becky with a better Becky?

          • “No Way Jose” Gomez

It’s going to end in a sort of flashback where Matt is writing a book

          • Matt_InGeeked

            Yes.

      • TatR!

They replaced Becky in Roseanne with a better Becky

  • DAJackson7

All these freaking post menopausal bags keep the air on way to cool here…i have to keep a jacket in my office

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

I also need to stop buying this Bane series. Just no good. I picked up 4 books yesterday, one which is nearly always great (Astro City), one which I’m enjoying thus far (Vader), two of which are terrible (Batman, Bane).

    • I knew Bane was gonna be a train wreck from jump street. The character is a bit overexposed right now.

      • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

I honestly have no idea what is going on. Getting back onto the bat books six months ago is turning out to be a mistake.

        • I much prefer Detective and the two Batgirl books. They’re much more fun

          • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

I punched out of detective after about 5 issues. There’s just too many characters to keep track of.

          • Still better than the War of Jokes and Riddles and Bane.

  • TatR!

Billy Corgan solo album out October 13

    • Matt_InGeeked

Since he bought the name, I hope it’s called NWA.

      • TatR!

        It’s called… *double checks* Ogilala.

        • Matt_InGeeked

          I like NWA more.

    • Mikey

Maybe one of the songs will be about blocking you on Twitter.

    • Facts

Billy Corgan, former TNA President, is a singer now?!

      • DAJackson7

        Hulk could play guitar!

      • Matt_InGeeked

        That’s Heavy.

    • Miko363

At least he’s finally come to terms with the fact that no one wants to be in a band with him.

  • Watched Ep 5 of American Gods last night.. best ep yet all I need to be happy is Ian McShane, Crispen Glover and a David Bowie Gillian Anderson and I’m really happy with my tv

  • Was Daddy’s Home any good? The addition of Mel Gibson and John Lithgow as Wahlberg and Ferrell’s dads has me interested in the sequel

  • Decided to listen to a policy podcast while putting the baby down for a nap. Seems to have bored her right to sleep

  • Blackjack Jowalsen

The one nice thing about being split between two campuses is I can get gas during the work day so I don’t have to worry about it on the way home, or God forbid, on the way to work in the morning. I hate getting gas in the morning.

    • ProjectBlue

My first few years doing this I was split. First year I was pretty paranoid the second I was off the grid, they’d want to know where I was and trouble would be afoot. By the end, I was grabbing lunch and going home for an hour or so to watch netflix. Then my schedule changed so no more mid-day breaks.

      • Blackjack Jowalsen

I’m still trying to come up with a routine. I realized today I need to carefully time leaving my original campus to avoid High school drivers as much as possible. They scared the crap out of me today.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

The whole “gas shortage” thing is looking like it’s slowing down a smidge here in San Antonio

      • Blackjack Jowalsen

Yeah, there are still places that are out, but the places that have gas aren’t stuffed to the brim anymore. The place I went to had most of its pumps open.

        • “No Way Jose” Gomez

From what I gather, a lot of gas stations finally had the bright idea of putting limits on gas purchases until things simmer down

          • Blackjack Jowalsen

Whoda thunkit? Maybe letting morons filling 2 55 gallon plastic water drums was a bad idea?

  • Tranquilo Baby Tranquilo

The fact that Izzy isn’t touring with GNR is due to an unequal distribution of the proceeds is just outrageous.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

      Bayley’s superfan?

  • Matt_InGeeked

I wish I owned a gun now. People are fucking savages during disasters sometimes.

    • Marv

Everyone should have at least a pistol. They’re just too fun.

      • Matt_InGeeked

I don’t care about the fun. I care about the asshole siphoning my gas or ripping me off on the side of the road.

        • Marv

Ah well, the other 99.9% of the time they’re just really fun.

      • Blackjack Jowalsen

They are really fun. Even just a .22. I actually kind of like shooting the smaller guns so I can just practice my aiming without worrying about my thumb feeling like it’s going to fall off.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I’ll probably buy one after this whole thing.

    • ProjectBlue

Eh, I wouldn’t be opposed to one someday but always figure I’d be outgunned in 95% of situations where it’d come in handy.

    • Facts

Go retro and get a musket

      • ProjectBlue

Always wanted a lawn trebuchet and a hot tar cauldron

    • Diddly

We ran out of gas because of FAKE FACEBOOK NEWS saying that the state was out of gas

      • ProjectBlue

If only that worked with all fake news #Maga

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

My favorite is when Harvey hit, people were actually pissed off at the meteorologists for thinking it was gonna hit San Antonio and bought all kinds of water and shit. Dude, better to be safe and sorry!

  • Macklin JeriPratt

Football is back! I hope the game tonight is competitive and entertaining. Too few primetime games last year were.

    • ProjectBlue

My NFL fannage is lapsing. Who’s playing? All I know is Giants are probably shitting themselves Sunday night because their coach keeps talking like he’s won something before.

      • Macklin JeriPratt

This is the least I’ve been pumped for the NFL in at least 8 years. Quality the past two years has been down.

Tonight is Patriots/Chiefs in New England.

        • ProjectBlue

Ew, who put the Chiefs in prime time?

          • Macklin JeriPratt

It’s the game we deserve. I’m really worried. That matchup has the makings of a blowout, unless the Chiefs can put up some points early and let their defense grind it out.

          • ProjectBlue

Yep, the best game possible would be a mistake filled slog.

          • Macklin JeriPratt

I find it painfully ironic that my football fandom is at the lowest it has ever been but the Raiders are finally good now. The universe is a cruel and vexing puzzle.

          • ProjectBlue

It’s a shame too. I wish I had a soul and it was just a result of the concussion stuff, but I was aware of how bad it was from an early age. Earl Campbell walked like a 120 year old pretty much from retirement.

The money puts me off, the League decisions to “improve the game” put me off, just old fogey’ing away. Can see myself not bothering in a post-Eli world. Though at least Collins seams to be a beast, maybe he’ll keep my interest.

          • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Unless you follow facebook and instagram, where people were expecting them to go 4-0 in the pre season and are already writing them off

  • Peyton should be happy, I just added a new bio to the about page.

  • DAJackson7

I see alot of people saying their football fandom has faded, and mine has too. I wonder what the reason is? For me it’s the non stop talk about it all year long. It has just made me not give a flying shit when it happens. And i don’t pay attention to ESPN anymore since all they talked about was football.

    • Marv

The combination of the game changing more and more to appeal to nonfans, the nonstop chatter on ESPN and that as a country we’re becoming way more aware of how horrible this game is on the human body and it’s considerably less fun to watch people smash their heads together

    • ProjectBlue

Mentioned a bit down below but it’s just not as fun for me to watch any more as I’ve gotten older.

    • Macklin JeriPratt

For me it was a combination of the entertainment value of the games lowering and also me giving soccer a chance and coming to enjoy it a lot.

    • Diddly

      TOO MANY COMMERCIALS

      • Marv

That too. As a non fan that shit is insufferable to watch. Commercial breaks every two minutes tops does not make for entertaining television.

      • ProjectBlue

        Even just score-commercial-kick-commercial is insufferable.

        • Blackjack Jowalsen

          That drives me absolutely nuts.

    • Miko363

It’s a combination of like 20 different smaller factors, but another one in my opinion:

Games on too many days, and games going too late at night is leading to burnout. Especially considering the Thursday night games are routinely awful.

    • Blackjack Jowalsen

Well, I’m pretty excited about the Cowboys this year but it was starting to be a drag with Romo constantly getting hurt. The Longhorns being bad for 7 years (maybe 8, we’ll see) in a row has diminished it somewhat.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

I’ve recently re-discovered baseball. That’s slowly creeping up on me as my go to sport

      • DAJackson7

It’s easily my go too. Was all kinds of pissed last night when our alternate Fox Sports Channel wasn’t showing the Royals game like they normally do, cause there was no way i could stay up and watch a west coast Cardinals game

  • Facts
  • Marv

I like to think someday football will go away. I think it starts with lawsuits for brain damage at the high school level then it moves up to the state schools. Once the NFL has their taxpayer-funded farm system dismantled they won’t really be able to operate anymore.

    • Miko363

It will likely start in more progressive states and snowball from there.

In middle of nowhere Texas where literally nothing else will ever matter more than high school football, you’re prying the ball out those boys’ cold, dead hands.

      • Marv

Eventually even a state that big will have to succumb to lawsuits.

    • ProjectBlue

It’ll shrink way down I reckon. To the point of boxing or MMA where only the meatheaded-ist of places sanction it

    • Stripping away the importance of football below the college level may cause Texas and other parts of the south to secede from the Union.

      I’m not saying that’s a bad thing…

      • Marv

It did not escape my notice that everyone in the south advertises their high school team while everyone in the northern midwest reps their college lol

        • Apparently, Varsity Blues was a documentary.

48 minutes for the next 48 years of your life.

          • Marv

My uncle Al scored four touchdowns in a high school game and never stopped talking about it

          • That Polk High team was really great.

          • DAJackson7

            Seven?

        • Blackjack Jowalsen

We also have people who passionately support schools that they are only loosely associated with. Like their Grandpa went to A&M so they’re A&M fans. They themselves quit Community college after a semester and half.

          • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Heh, I’ve become the same sort of way. I became a supporter of my mother in law’s high school teams ever since I got with my wife and we were going to the games

          • Blackjack Jowalsen

It’s not a bad thing but it is kind of fun sometimes to pick people’s brains to see why they support the teams they do.

  • Facts

Watching NFL from the 70’s to say 1999 is so much fun.

  • Miko363

Any taxpayer who is on board with financing a new football stadium in 2017 is a complete fool.

    • It’s a shame taxpayers rarely have a say in the matter.

      • Miko363

You need enough citizens paying attention and active enough to sway public opinion. Negative press is the only thing that stops legislators who would try to push it through.

      • Matt_InGeeked

They do, by not voting in the assholes who find it okay to spend money on it.

    • DAJackson7

Building Football stadiums period is stupid…they only get used ten times a year.

      • Aren’t they shared use?

        • DAJackson7

Not really. A few teams like Philadelphia, Miami, and Pittsburgh share with colleges but that’s it anymore

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

No lie, I forgot that we have the Alamodome until Metallica announced their tour earlier this year

  • ProjectBlue

    And end prep…

  • I’ve never even watched a football game from beginning to end in my life, but the Superbowl is a borderline national holiday even here, and draws more money than the GDP of some nations so I can’t see it going anywhere.

  • Diddly

Aw man I forgot to brag about catching a Raikou in Pokemon Go last night!

    • Matt_InGeeked

Good job! You wasted time staring at your phone outside!

      • Matt_InGeeked

I’m sorry, I’m starting to get in a shitty mood.

        • Diddly

          Understandable in your situation

          • Matt_InGeeked

Not really, all you did was playing a phone game. My bad, Dids.

    • Oh man, if only you’d mentioned it earlier you would have been eligible for a cash prize + a handy from any member of the Geekery staff*.

*Not the girl because that’s sexual harassment.

      • Diddly

I was just hoping to agitate an already agitated Marv but his guest left and he’s happy

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

Pfft, let me know when you catch a Blastoise

  • Diddly

You can’t even make banners that say “Assassinate Lincoln” before the big game against Lincoln High, so I don’t know how a guy like Forest Whittaker could even have the game of his life in this day and age

  • Matt_InGeeked

There are some old idiots around here that live on the island going, “I’m just gonna ride it out!”

Well, you’re old as fuck, who cares, right? As long as you don’t try calling for rescue, go with god.

But if you call for rescue, I hope no one saves you because you had an opportunity to leave.

    • Marv

Alright he’s wishing death on the elderly lol Matt’s officially in a mood haha

      • Matt_InGeeked

Old people are the fucking worst, dude.

        The worst.

I hope I’m never like that. I will try so hard to not be that fucking entitled.

These people are entitled to the point where they are so stubborn that a FUCKING HURRICANE WON’T MOVE THEM.

Then 3 days later, some poor paramedic has to ‘copter his ass over there and risk his life to save YOUR STUPID FUCKING BABY BOOMIN’ DUMPSTER FIRE ASS.

        • Matt_InGeeked

          THE WORST.

        • Marv

I kind of want it to be a hurricane all the time now.

        • Dwayne

Fuck it. They have to die soon, anyway

        • “No Way Jose” Gomez

*sees pink goo coming out of the kitchen sink*
          .

      • He has a point…

  • Facts

I want hair like Jim Jarmusch.

    • Matt_InGeeked

      BOOM. Tough Actin’ Jarmuschin’.

  • Dwayne

I remember when hurricanes came up here. Last bad one was Sandy. Luckily, I didn’t live near water and it was just a big rain storm for me.

    • Hurricane Hazel in 1954 was the only time we got smacked but it was a good one.

      81 dead!

      • Dwayne

        81 is a high number

  • Matt_InGeeked

    These fuckin’ idiots.

Old bitch at Wendys givin’ a stink eye because a baby cried a little next to her.

    Fuckin’ old bitches. Fuck them.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

*pink goo rising from the ground*

  • Dwayne

I feel bad for Puerto Rico but most Puerto Rican’s live in New York City anyway.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

      *Ba dum tis*

    • Devin Harris

It’s weird how NYC is a melting pot and segregated at the same time. Spanish Harlem, Chinatown, and so on. We don’t even do that down south

      • Dwayne

Yeah. There is also plenty of racism which segregation helps promote. We all have to deal with each other at some point through our daily travels but go back home to your own people for the most part. Unless you’re like me and live in a place where white people are making it too expensive for us.

        • Devin Harris

I think that’s why most people believe it doesn’t exist there, because you all interact. Down here you can really go your whole life without interacting with someone of a different race which means you wouldn’t encounter it all that much, but when you do……oh boy

          • Dwayne

Right. There are just so many people that we can’t avoid each other all the time. But you can still catch weird looks when you are in a place where no one else looks like you.

  • Matt_InGeeked

I can’t fucking wait until all the baby boomers are dead.

‘Cept for Silver Fox, because I like “best of” lists.

    • Matt_InGeeked

      Oh, and my parents.

    • Dwayne

Some old people are cool. The miserable, mean old fucks can die off though.

      • Matt_InGeeked

Whatever percentage that is, sure. I’m assuming somewhere in the 95 percentile.

    • if they all died tomorrow you could pile their bodies up around your house along with the sand bags

    • TatR!

      Top baby boomers

      Silver Fox
      Er
      That’s it

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

“You have to respect your elders”
      .
      “Not unless they’re assholes!!”

  • Diddly

Matt would think more highly of baby boomers if us lazy millennials didn’t piss them off constantly, with our working 3 jobs to make ends meet and our spending money on travelling instead of material possessions

    • Matt_InGeeked

      FUCKING THIS.

    • Dwayne

I think that’s the annoying thing is the bitching about today. But us 30 somethings are already becoming that way which is the irony.

      • Matt_InGeeked

I don’t know what irony to which you speak.

        • Dwayne

Simply that we hate old people bitching but we bitch about the younger generation so it’s pretty much the same

          • Matt_InGeeked

I like the younger generation way more than the older one.

          • Matt_InGeeked

            …Except for musical tastes.

          • Dwayne

Yeah. I can’t defend this new music

          • Dwayne

I actually do too. I don’t knock the younger generation. If anything I envy them in some ways.

    • Marv

I’m spending a boomer’s money so I don’t have to work I like to think I’m taking one back for the team.

      • Devin Harris

You are the living embodiment of the American dream

    • Devin Harris

My last year at my corporate gig we had a benefits meeting. They changed some stuff to become more attractive more millenials. All the boomers were pissed. I knew I was quitting so I didn’t really care but that’s when I knew that millenials was just a different name for a mark.

  • Missed a lot of football talk I see.

You are correct football interest is fading the past couple years… almost as if everyone’s favorite player finally hanged up the cleats

    • Marv

I’m not a fan of the sport and even I miss Favre.

    • Devin Harris

The NFL has a lot of similarities to WWE. I think most of our interest feigned in both for the same reasons.

  • Matt_InGeeked

Alright, I think my ranting is over.

  • TatR!

    I’m into LCD Soundystem now!

  • Devin Harris

I’ve been listening to a lot of Jodeci lately. I’m not sure what this means to me or anyone else, but it’s a thing I’m doing

    • Mikey

      Love Jodeci

    • Dwayne

If I’m listening to r & b it’s usually female artists. I love how you can tell what’s going on in their life by the type of songs they put out at the time.

      • “No Way Jose” Gomez

        ’90s R & B was the shit

        • Dwayne

Yeah. That was a good time for r&b. I haven’t listened to much since that era.

      • Devin Harris

As a youth I never listened to lyrics that heavily but it’s weird what I catch now by actually listening. Especially to someone like Faith Evans

    • Matt_InGeeked

You’re ready for your first makeout session at the middle school prom?

      • Devin Harris

        just about

  • Mikey

That one KCI and JoJo song was played like crazy when I was like 10. I didn’t realize it was two of the guys from jodeci.

    • Dwayne

Our slow dance song in my 6th grade dance was a Jodeci song but I forget which one

    • Miko363

      Poor DeDe.

    • I was going to say that the only Jodeci song I know is Virtual Insanity, and that it’s fine.

But it turns out that that’s actually Jamiroquai and that I don’t know any Jodeci songs at all.

  • Trailer for The Current Affair (cumberbatch as Edison Michael Shannon as Westinghouse) looks like they make them both out to be assholes.

  • Miko363

Speaking of benefits, they just announced they’re increasing my company’s paternity leave from 1 week full pay to 3 weeks full pay. Been there almost 12 years and they announce this the month after I made sure I can’t have any more kids.

Cue Bret Hart THIS IS BULLSHIT!

    • Damn. We get none.

      • Miko363

I think this was done because our second location is in San Diego, and California has a 3 week paid leave policy, so some of the Massachusetts folks were probably bitching about unequal benefits.

        • I had to use vacation days for both of my boys.

          • Miko363

I’d use a week of leave, and then a week of vacation. By the end of Week 2, I was ready to go back to work.

  • WorldWide Duck

Without Baby Boomers we would not have 60s music. Think about that for a bit.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I didn’t say they didn’t contribute, just that they should go away now.

    • ProjectBlue

Would be a fair, but sad trade off

  • Matt_InGeeked

    Did You Know?

Kyrie Irving was born in Australia.

    • DAJackson7

Does he know the difference between Australia and Austria though?

      • Matt_InGeeked

I’m unsure he could spell either.

        • Dwayne

I don’t believe he really thinks earth is flat. I think he’s bullshitting

    • WorldWide Duck

That’s why he’s aware the World is flat. He actually made the journey.

    • Facts

Does he have an accent like Arnold Schwarzenegger?

  • Best_in_the_World

Just found out some asshole has been putting fraudulent charges on my card since November 2016 to pay for his Netflix account. Since I have an account on autopay, I never bothered to look closely at my bills. Glad I did. Giant pain in the ass to resolve but I got it done.

    • DAJackson7

      Why doesn’t my Netflix work?

      • Best_in_the_World

        It was YOUUU

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

I would’ve found that shit out right away

  • Miko363

Random classic rock fact I just learned: Creedence released 6 studio albums in a span of 30 months and then were basically done as a band after that. That’s kinda nuts.

    • WorldWide Duck

I’ve always been amazed they were the one 60s band actually from San Fran.

  • Facts

Alright, we’ve decided to leave town on Friday evening instead.

    • WorldWide Duck

I am leaving town Saturday afternoon!

  • Facts

Young Whippersnapper you are 25 and still live with your parents? Why at my age I was out of the house by age 17.

Look gramps, in today’s economic climate it is hard to find a steady income with today’s rising prices, the outrageous cost of living and the price they expect me to pay for rent and no real job growth in this town. So yeah I still live with my parents…………

I lost my teeth sonny what were you saying?

    • Dwayne

I left the house at 17. I just got tired of being told what I could and couldn’t do. And I wanted to bang chicks at home.

    • TatR!

did you know that you can’t afford to buy a house 20 times your annual salary because you ordered that coffee

      • Facts

        That must be some coffee.

        • TatR!

it was okay, i binned most of it

      • There’s truth in both sides.

It is different, and harder today.

But if you’re bitching about how hard it is today and you’ve got more money in video games than you have in your savings account then I have no sympathy for you.

        • Comdukakis

Being poor costs more. Internet and cell phone are necessities that past generations didn’t have as expenses

        • TatR!

If you have 0% possibility of buying a house you may as well spend $60 on a video game

          • I disagree with that. Opportunities arise from time to time even where you can’t see them now and it’s best to be prepared.

  • Marv

        But I have a Galaxy!

          • Facts

I HAVE AN LG G5 TOO!

          • Matt_InGeeked

It’s not really something to get excited about.

          • Facts

It wasn’t in an excited tone, more of a sad frustrated tone.

          • Diddly

            And those are the facts

          • Matt_InGeeked

Also, not many folks have them, so I could see that it would be interesting finding another.

    • Facts

I saw a Great Dane inside a building today. I think they were hunting for ghosts.

    • Matt_InGeeked

I’m looking into the eyes of the ever-present void of death. How are you?

      • Brian_Bayless

        I had a staff meeting

        • Matt_InGeeked

What a time to be alive.

          • Brian_Bayless

I have to do more work now

          • Matt_InGeeked

            WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

    • I’ve got a friend in the next building picking me up after work for drinks.

  • I have no idea what kind of phone I have. I have a cellular phone.

  • Devin Harris

I didn’t have a cell phone until I got this job. I was using a google voice account for a phone. I just called people from my laptop when I had Wi-Fi. It was a weird time especially when I started back dating. Doing gymnastics to get around telling women I didn’t have a phone was fun.

    • DAJackson7

I;m sure those conversations went well and level with the women……..

      • Devin Harris

I was fine until it was time to meet. I’d say let’s meet at 7 wherever. Well, I had no way of contacting them when I got there and them likewise. That’s when all the fun would start.

        • DAJackson7

They all probably thought you were some shady dude…”no cell phone? Mmmhhhhhh it’s probably at his house with his wife”

          • Devin Harris

That’s what it mostly boiled down to. I had one girl that was talking to me and we were hitting it off. Before she would meet she wanted to exchange photos. Getting that accomplished was fun

  • Mikey

I don’t think that I will watch the football game tonight. I doubt I watch a single game all season, to be honest.

    • Devin Harris

I’m sure I’ll watch some but I’m easily pulled away from it now unlike in the past

      • Mikey

So many bad games that are “close” because both teams suck so badly.

        • Devin Harris

At some point putting out a terrible product is going to catch up to them. Like you said, it’s no reason to throw away a perfectly good Sunday

          • Brian_Bayless

The slate of games on Sunday are horrendous.

          • Devin Harris

There just aren’t many teams that will be any good because of quarterback play. It’s only like five anyone actually wants to watch

          • Brian_Bayless

League is really bad right now. That and all the rules they enforced to make it so you cannot play any defense.

    • Matt_InGeeked

      #MikeyDontLikeIt

      • Mikey

Sunday is like the one day to do something that I want to do. Don’t like watching football, so I just do something else.

        • Matt_InGeeked

          Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.

  • Matt_InGeeked

I had an opportunity to eat a Philly Cheesesteak today and did not do it.

    It was a mistake.

    Is Ric Flair still alive?

  • Matt_InGeeked

“Officials say that Haiti is NOT ready for Irma.”

Well, tell her to take a 5 minute break.

  • Devin Harris

If a quarterback fits a certain type then there is nothing you can do to convince NFL people that he can’t play. I’m sure some coach somewhere is thinking he could still turn Jeff George into a Pro Bowler

  • Diddly

Watched an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 last night.

Brandon was pissed that he was making a C in history, so Steve convinced him to cheat. Brandon ends up befriending the old, crotchety history teacher and discovers he’s a not a dick, he’s just sad his wife died. Brandon refuses to cheat on the midterm and ends up doing well, even after the teacher gives a new exam due to discovering Brandon and Steve’s cheating!

Meanwhile, Kelly dyes Brenda’s hair with disastrous results, but Dylan likes the new ‘do, so it was all good.

    • Devin Harris

If this happened before the Donna Martin graduates show then I’ve seen this. I don’t remember any of this but if it’s before that episode then I’ve seen it before

      • Diddly

This was like Season 1 episode 6, so you probably have!

        • Devin Harris

          Yes, I have!

    • Matt_InGeeked

      Good times.

    • “No Way Jose” Gomez

My wife did a re-watch recently. She tapped out early in the last season

    • ProjectBlue

I watched pretty much through the first run. I don’t think it’s something I’d be able to revisit now though. Imagine the cringe factor is huge when it’s no longer “the only show for teens” type appeal

    • Facts

      Oh 1990’s Teen Drama.

  • I’ll watch the NFL this year.

  • Devin Harris

I’m not a big fan of all the price gouging going on right now. I’m really not sure why people in my area are buying a bunch of stuff. Let’s say a hurricane hits here. Wouldn’t all the stuff you just bought to be prepared be taken away along with everything else you own? Maybe I’m looking at this wrong. I dunno. It’s almost 5 and you people can be done with me

    • Matt_InGeeked

I actually haven’t seen any price gouging.

      • Devin Harris

I mean in my area. Specifically the hotels. Everyone from the coast is coming here so it’s crazy expensive to get a room

        • Diddly

You see United jacking up flight costs from $150 to like $3500?

          • Devin Harris

Man, that’s cold. That’s really cold

          • Matt_InGeeked

There’s no way they’ll get away with that if that’s true.

          • I read where it’s probably a computer thing that was automatically increasing based on demand rather than a conscious decision.

    • Diddly

It happened here with Harvey and all we got was rain!

      • Devin Harris

Just looked at the website of our local paper. Water is flying off the shelves. How TF is that going to help you? It’s going to be washed away. Tony can you tell me?

        • Well if you’ve got a safe shelter but the municipal water is off, or polluted, you need water.

          • Devin Harris

I’m guessing most people haven’t thought that far ahead. If you have somewhere to stash it then it makes sense, but keeping it in the same place that will be flooded or destroyed by a hurricane doesn’t make sense to me

          • Well no, you need a shelter or something.. Or even if your house is on high ground the water supply could still be compromised.

  • Devin Harris

If a storm does hit then I’m just going to go loot the grocery store (Marv Shrug)

  • Matt_InGeeked

Alright, time to go home and prep to get the fuck outta here by tomorrow night. Later Geeks.

    • DAJackson7

      Good luck sir

      Have a nice night!

No Jack Tatum or people like him.

      • RudoWakening

        Chuck. Fucking. Cecil.

  • Blackjack Jowalsen

I was reading an article about these two boys that were conjoined twins and have survived the surgery well. It was pretty heartwarming until I realized the kids names were Jadon and Anias.

Seriously? Anias? Is Aeneas too common a name that you have to church it up with some stupid bullshit “unique” spelling?

    • ProjectBlue

“Cute” spellings are ridiculous. Especially when it’s some fucked up spelling and you guess wrong on pronunciation and the kid gets indignant

      • The Silver Fox

I had a Jaysun last year.

        • ProjectBlue

I mean, at the least there should be someone at the hospital that can hint around how bad that will be for the kid and regardless of the kid’s accomplishments i’m shaking my head seeing his name in print

          • The Silver Fox

All the kids in my extended family have normal names with normal spelling.

    • Rowlf

      “Anus?”
      “No, Anias.”
“Yeah…everyone’s gonna call you Anus from now on.”

      • ProjectBlue

        “But..”
        “Would you just prefer ‘Asshole’?”
        “My name is Anus.”

    • RudoWakening

Anias would most likely be the Roman spelling, I guess?

  • RudoWakening

    I like Mindless Self-Indulgence. They’re a fun band.

  • Marv

Reading all this stuff about North Korea getting an intercontinental missile and I can’t help but think if they do well with this they’ll go for the world missile.

      • The Silver Fox

        They don’t get paid enough.

      • Dwayne

I couldn’t do it. My daughter is fine but like 20 of them? No thanks.

        • The Silver Fox

I’m better off dealing with 20 or 30 teenagers than I would be with kindergarteners.

          • Dwayne

            You can reason with teenagers

          • The Silver Fox

            Most of the time.

    • ProjectBlue

One when he was in like 5th grade and decided he didn’t like school work, two was 16/17-ish when he assumed that meant he was a grown up, the 3rd just random stuff every now and then. But none of them super horrible especially considering what they came from

    • Dwayne

Even I remember being difficult in that time. Hormones made us crazy. I say JR high teachers have it the worst

      • ProjectBlue

It’s weird too, at least in my district they’re also the most likely ones to stick around for ever. A lot of movement in elementary and high school but the ones that click at Middle, become lifers

I would not want to teach grades 6-8. Grade 9 is slightly better.

      • Dwayne

Punk Rock was said to be the for rebellious kids. It got hot around the same time as rap music in the early 80s.

        • The Silver Fox

That said, if I had a time machine, one of the things I would do is go to CBGB’s in the 1970’s.

          • Dwayne

Oh for sure. You had great venues like that in the late 70s that you can’t ever see again.

          • RudoWakening

My brother played CBGB in 2005 and said it was an absolute dump, though it was still cool to play there

          • The Silver Fox

I think it was a dump in the 70’s. Not to mention being located in the Bowery back when that was a skid row.

As well as briefly touching on human evolution.

        • Macklin JeriPratt

Not a fan of fried chicken either. I mean, I’ll eat it but it’s never ever something I want or am excited to eat.
